On June 20, 2025, our Partners Jennifer Fan, Erica Kwan, and Senior Associate Rufina Ng, in collaboration with Alongside Limited, Verna Lui and Julia Au of Rede Chambers and Next Chapter LGBT, hosted a public seminar at Eaton HK. The event brought together over 60 people and focused on the legal challenges faced by same-sex partners under Hong Kong's inheritance laws. The seminar was filled with interactive discussions and meaningful engagement between the speakers and attendees.

Jennifer Fan, a seasoned practitioner with extensive experience in matrimonial and family law, provided her insights into the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Ordinance (Cap. 481), along with a comprehensive overview of the rules of intestacy. Erica Kwan, with significant expertise in contentious trust and estate litigation, and Rufina Ng, who specialises in estate planning and trust, highlighted the critical importance of properly drafting and preparing a will to protect loved ones and minimize conflicts among parties.
